2025 Municipal Budget Engagement - Simulation Tool

Thank you for participating in our budget engagement from January 22 to February 16, 2025 on HelloSaanich. Residents had the opportunity to participate in a survey and budget simulation tool to provide their feedback.

Public input is now closed, but residents are invited to join upcoming budget meetings to learn about the draft budget, current cost drivers, opportunities and plans for the coming year:

• Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 6 p.m.
• Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 6 p.m.

The below exercise encouraged residents to try their hand at allocating funding for different budget categories, in the same way that a municipal official would as part of developing the 2025 budget (Please note: this is a weighting exercise which uses a budget that is for the purpose of this exercise only and does not reflect the 2025 budget).

This educational tool gives participants a feel for what it’s like to weigh various priorities and allocate support for each. The results will also help Mayor and Council better understand the priorities of Saanich residents.
