Cadboro Bay Utility Replacement
What's happening?
The District of Saanich will be undertaking utility upgrades on Cadboro Bay Road between Maynard Street and Tudor Avenue.
This project includes replacing aging watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure. As part of the upgrades, service connections from the property line to the new mains will also be replaced.
Following detailed design review, additional improvements have been identified for the roadway in the section from Dawe Road to Lauder Road. The project will include roadway and surface upgrades above the new storm main to improve drainage, safety, and long term performance.
These improvements include:
- A widened asphalt travel lane
- New curb and gutter
- A new sidewalk along the corridor
- Revised pavement markings to reflect the new road layout
These changes will also help align the corridor with future active transportation plans.
Why are we doing this?
The existing water, sanitary and drainage infrastructure has reached its end of life and is required to be replaced. New pipes will be installed in the roadway and new service connections will be provided to each property where the main was replaced.
Construction Impacts
Construction impact details will be communicated closer to the start of work. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place to safely guide vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians through the area.
Some temporary impacts may include:
- Short-term driveway access restrictions (with advance notice)
- Phased service interruptions (minimum 24 hours notice provided)
- Construction noise and activity during working hours
Garbage and recycling services will be maintained throughout construction.
Project Timeline
Construction is tentatively scheduled to occur from September 2026 to February 2027. This project is estimated to be complete in 24 weeks from the start of construction.
