Cedar Hill Road Watermain Replacement
What's happening?
Saanich will be undertaking upgrades on Cedar Hill Road from McKenzie Avenue to Mortimer Street. The scope of work includes replacing the existing watermain infrastructure. All water services will be replaced from the property line to the new watermain.
Construction Impacts
During construction, work will take place between 8:00am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday in August and 9:00am to 3:00pm in September. Vehicle access will be impacted by single lane alternating traffic, and full closures depending on the work area location along the roadway. During full closures, local traffic only (i.e., residents) will still have access to their properties. Detour routes will be communicated closer to the start of construction works. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in-place to help direct vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians through and around the work areas. Some properties will have their driveway inaccessible for a short period of time. Public Works staff will notify residents of those occasions and try to accommodate any access concerns.
Phased disruption to services in the area will occur during construction. Public Works will notify residents a minimum of 24 hours prior to any disruption of services. Garbage and recycling services will be maintained.
Project Timeline
Construction will occur from July to September. This project is scheduled to be complete in 10-12 weeks from the start of construction.
Why are we doing this?
The existing watermain infrastructure has reached its end of life and is required to be replaced. New watermain pipes will be installed in the roadway and new water service connections will be provided to each property.
