Foul Bay Road Sanitary Service Transfer Project

What's happening?
The District of Saanich will be replacing 34 sanitary sewer service connections along Foul Bay Road between Carnarvon Street and Cadboro Bay Road.
These services are currently connected to the older 300 mm clay sewer main and will be transferred/replaced to the newer 525 mm PVC sewer main.
Why are we doing this?
The older sewer main was installed in the 1930s and is undersized and in poor condition. The existing service connections have also experienced deterioration and historical failures.
Transferring the services to the newer sewer main will improve the reliability of the sanitary sewer system, reducing groundwater and rainwater entering the main.
Construction Impacts
Temporary traffic delays and impacts anticipated for:
- Vehicle travel along Foul Bay Road
- Access to some driveways
- On-street parking near the work area
Traffic-control personnel will be on site to safely direct vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. Residents will be notified in advance if access to their property will be temporarily affected.
Garbage and recycling services will be maintained throughout construction.
Project Timeline
Construction of this project is anticipated to be begin mid-August 2026 and will take approximately 10 -12 weeks.
