July 2025 Update:
Construction on Pear Street is nearing completion. Work has been combined with the Shelbourne Street Improvement Phase 3.
August 2023 update:
Thank you to everyone who participated during the online discussion and open house for the planned improvements on Pear Street. Please click here for the consultation and feedback received. The District is pleased to announce that we have finalized the plans for Pear Street and will be proceeding with detail design. Construction will be completed as part of the Shelbourne Street Improvement Phase 3.

Project Summary and Past Activities
As part of the Shelbourne Street Improvement Project Phase 3, the District’s Active Transportation Plan, and the Safe Routes to School program, the District will be undertaking an Active transportation upgrade on Pear Street between Shelbourne and Cedar Hill Road. By upgrading active transportation facilities on Pear, we aim to provide safe access for pedestrians and cyclists to nearby schools, UVIC, the adjacent shopping centres and Shelbourne Street.
As part of an initial public engagement, an online session was held for residents in April 2023. See power point presentation for this online session. As a result, staff created a conceptual plan to showcase at a public open house which was held July 12, 2023, at 3787 Cear Hill Road (Lutheran Church of the Cross). Members of the project team were onsite to hear feedback and answer questions regarding the presented concept.
The feedback generated from the open house will be summarized and posted to the website along with the concept.
