Saanich-Short-Oak Sanitary Sewer Replacement

What's happening?

Saanich will be undertaking utility upgrades on Saanich Road, Oak Street and Short Street. The scope of work includes replacing the existing sanitary sewers infrastructure. All services will be replaced from the property line to the new utility main.

Construction Impacts

Construction impact details will be communicated closer to the start of construction works. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in-place to help direct vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians through and around the work areas. Some properties will have their driveway inaccessible for a short period of time. Construction crews will notify residents of those occasions and try to accommodate any access concerns. Phased disruption to services in the area will occur during construction. Construction crews will notify residents a minimum of 24 hours prior to any disruption of services. Garbage and recycling services will be maintained.

Project Timeline

Construction is tentatively schedules to occur from March to July in 2026. This project is estimated to be complete in 20 weeks from the start of construction.

Why are we doing this?

The existing sanitary infrastructure is located on a failing slope, it must be abandoned . New pipes will be installed in the roadway and new service connections will be provided to each property where the main was replaced.
