Wilkinson Road Improvement Project (Greenlea Dr to Quicks Bottom Park Trail Xwalk)
The District of Saanich is undertaking a roadway improvement project on Wilkinson Road from Greenlea Drive to the Quicks Bottom Park trail crosswalk. This project will deliver new sidewalks, upgraded bike lanes, and safer travel lanes for all users.
Project overview
The Wilkinson Road Improvement Project is a priority under Saanich’s Active Transportation Plan, serving to enhance safety, connectivity, and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
The project area includes:
- Wilkinson Road between Greenlea Drive and the Quicks Bottom Park Trail crosswalk
Improvements include:
- Road widening to accommodate new bike lanes
- New curbs on both sides of the road
- Improved sidewalk on the east side of Wilkinson Road
- Full road repaving
Why are we doing this?
Wilkinson Road is part of Saanich’s bicycle network and a key corridor for the community. The upgrades will close gaps in the bike lane network, improve pedestrian access and will complement similar improvements that were made north and south of the project area in the past decade.
Key benefits
- Safer, continuous sidewalks and new bike lanes
- Improved access and connectivity for all road users
What to expect
Road users should expect traffic delays and pedestrian detours. Efforts will be made to maintain property access and minimize inconvenience to nearby residents and the general public.
Minor tree removals are required; a project arborist will monitor work to minimize impacts.
