Maddock & Wascana - Storm Drain, Sanitary and Water Utility Upgrades

Maddock-Wascana Street Utility Upgrades

Project Update:

Traffic impacts

Wascana St will be closed intermittently (local traffic only) from Obed Avenue to Maddock Avenue from May 25th to June 5th during working hours.

The intersection of Obed and Wascana will be closed on June 4th and June 5th, 2026, alongside a neighborhood water shutdown.

Further up the street, Wascana St from Maddock Avenue North to Burnside Rd W will be partially closed during Working Hours from May 25th to June 5th.

What's happening?

We are replacing storm drain mains, sanitary mains and water mains on Wascana from Obed Avenue to Burnside Road West, with additional works on Maddock Avenue, Qu'Appelle Street, and Davin Street.

Why is it important?

Many sections of sanitary and storm drain mains along Wascana Street were found to be in poor condition, while there is also a history of water main breaks and service connection leaks due to aging infrastructure.

When?

Construction for the storm & sanitary portion of this project is scheduled to last from November 7, 2025 through late-June 2026.

The water main replacement portion of this project is currently scheduled to start early April 2026 and last until late-July or mid-August 2026.

How will this affect me during construction?

Vehicle access will be impacted by possible closures and single lane alternating traffic. Residents will still have access to their properties during construction. Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place to help direct vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians around the work area. Our Public Works crews will notify residents of any direct impacts to their properties or access.
